Programs & Curriculum Overview
Being mindful to allow the earnestness and joyfulness of a seeking struggling child to make sense of the world, which is partly what play does.
-Stuart Brown
Here at Wee Love Learning Childcare, we believe that when we allow kids to play and grow at their own pace, they gain a multitude of blessings.
Children’s development can be quite uneven, especially in the early years. The whole child needs to be nourished and all aspects – emotional, social skills, memory, emotional awareness, creative problem-solving, flexibility and impulse control.
Children experience the greatest growth when they feel secure and wanted. Therefore, we provide a warm, caring, comfortable and safe environment for our children. All children are treated with gentleness and respect. We encourage children to treat others in this same manner.
Our center cultivates an unbiased atmosphere where children and families are encouraged to challenge their individual paradigms and subsequently see society through a lens of thought and culture.
A warm, loving and secure environment.
Our Infant program carries a staff-to-child ratio of 1:4 or 2:8.
The Infant Teachers provide a warm, loving and secure environment. Allowing a room free of entrapments, infants excel at mastering skills such as holding up their heads, rolling over, sitting up, pulling up, crawling and eventually walking. Our teacher’s interactions encourage infants to learn and grow in their own way. While also supporting families through transitions of new enrollment, drop-off, pick-up, daily reports, and daily communication.
Infants are natural learners. We offer a play-based Emergent Curriculum, to encourage your baby’s development. Infants in our program are introduced to a variety of stories, songs, toys and enrichment with personal interactions from the caregivers.
Instills confidence, self-esteem and a love for learning.
Our Toddler program carries a staff-to-child ratio of 1:7 or 2:14 Wee Love Learning provides two toddler classrooms to support the vast developmental differences between the ages and stages.
Our Toddler 1 classroom is a room for our younger toddlers to about the age of 20 months. Giving children the chance to practice skills such as physical, emotional, communication and thinking skills.
Our Toddler 2 classroom is a room for our older toddlers from about the age of 18 months to 2.5 years old. This space really sets the tone for emotional, communication and thinking skills. Where pretend play, lots of conversations by naming things that are being used and are in contact with, while also encouraging peer relationships that take precedence over forcing experiences.
Toddlers will learn and explore through a variety of intentional age-appropriate play areas set up and designed that promote time, space and support. Observation of children’s play will direct teachers in how best to create an Emergent Curriculum set to the interest of children as well as individual lesson plans.
2.5 Years Old – 5 Years Old
Provides children with a loving, safe environment in which they feel good about themselves and their capabilities.
Our Preschool program carries a staff-to-child ratio of 1:10 or 2:20.
Wee Love Learning provides three preschool classrooms to support the vast developmental differences between the ages and stages.
Our Mini-Preschool classroom is a room for our youngest preschoolers from the ages of 2.5 years to 3 years of age. At this age big feelings, tantrums, simple sentences, pretend play, independence and new thinking skills are emerging. This is one of the most important ages for emotional development. Our teachers facilitate free play that allows opportunities for children to build pathways for thinking, creativity, flexibility, empathy and many other lifelong skills.
Our PreK-4 classroom is a room for our 3-year old to 4-year old preschoolers. This age brings a time when children’s worlds will be dominated by fantasy and vivid imagination with maturity in many areas. Carefully planned routines with child-initiated learning encourage children to problem-solve, cooperate with others, explore new activities, try new skills and feel safe to share their opinions.
Our PreK-5 classroom is a room for our oldest preschoolers 4 years to 5 years of age. This age brings greater independence, self-control, and creativity. They are content to play and are eager to try new things. Play facilitates learning activities that build on readiness skills, such as pre-reading, math, science, self-expression, social skills, small and large motor skills and feelings of self-worth and self-esteem.
Wee Love Learning believes that a child’s preparation for life and school comes in many forms of play. When children are allowed to play and grow at their own pace, they gain lessons that teach children that they are okay just the way they are.
Above all else, Wee Love Learning seeks to provide children with a loving, safe environment in which children call all feel good about themselves and their capabilities.
Our School Age program carries a staff-to-child ratio of 1:15 or 2:30.
Wee Love Learning offers a Before & After program as well as Before OR After care program. Our hours are 6:00 am-8:00 am and 2:45 pm-5:30 pm M-F. We provide full-day care on non-school days for up to 10 hours as reflected in our center calendar. Such as School Break Camps (Winter, Mid-Winter and Spring), one-day Professional Day programs and Summer Day camps. We do not provide care during school hours for children who have been suspended or are too sick to attend school.
School transportation is provided to some of our local area elementary schools. We are only able to transport up to 20 children to and from school. We do not transport children during school hours when the child has been deemed sick at school and is being sent home or if an emergency arises at the school itself, families are required to make those transportation arrangements.
We offer a high-quality program that addresses the special interests of each child. We do this by offering courses that include arts and crafts, indoor and outdoor active games, homework and literacy time, science, environmental education, personal health and safety talks, cooking and nutrition, and opportunities for participants of all ages to engage with each other. Wee Love Learning promotes positive social interactions and problem-solving skills which support children in developing relationships and age-appropriate social skills, and build connections between school, family and the community.
